Members of Shinny will appear on Saturday July 12, 2008, at the Family Fun Day in Phelpston, Ontario! This event was organized in order to raise money for a local family that
has been dealing with a difficult medical issue with their six year old girl. Phelpston is located north of Barrie,
off of highway #27. Turn West on Flos concession #4 in Fergusonvale. This is south of Elmvale. The event
will be held at the ball park and will run from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Other bands performing will be JAXTER and VITAL
ORGANS!! All are encouraged to come out and support this worthy cause! Thank you Terry and P.K. (of Hired Help)
for looking after the sound!
Shinny has been working to help support Hospice Niagara in their efforts to open a permanent facility.
We want to congratulate all of those involved in opening their new home in the summer of 2007!! The band joined in with
a concert in celebration. We will be playing for Hospice Niagara again on August 19, 2008. Our next step is to
play on a float in the St. Catharine's Wine Festival Parade to help further this cause! Shinny wishes all
the best to Hospice Niagara!!!
SHINNY was formed by Chris and Brad Shoreman in August of 1999. Terry O'Farrell later brought
his vast experience from his former band Hadrian's Wall. They wanted to create a group that plays music about our fair
country Canada that would appeal to people of all ages. The band plays what they call "Canadian Heritage Music", which
is an eclectic blend of Celtic, rock, bluegrass, and what ever else they throw in to the mix to become distinctly SHINNY!
Shinny currently have over 50 original songs that deal with hockey ("a religion in our land") and life in
Canada (in other words, cottaging, fishing, partying, and beer). The band will actually write a song about you if you
book them more than twice! The band kicks it into high gear when they play live. Their high energy shows mix modern
and traditional music with their originals and Canadian cover tunes. Shinny has hit the mark as they play music that
is great for pubs and bars, but also fits well with festivals and private parties and functions!
